Hasco-Lek: ESG values are embedded in our DNA
The foundation of our activity is caring for health and ensuring patient safety. We implement our mission – “We comprehensively care for the health and comfort of life of Poles” by taking a number of various activities. From the production of pharmaceuticals, through advanced research in the field of medical sciences and pharmacy, to the distribution of products and treatment of patients in our own medical facilities, as well as CSR and ESG activities.
ESG Team
Following the values of sustainable development, Hasco-Lek established an interdisciplinary ESG Team (Environmental, Social, Governance) in 2023. Its role is to build the Hasco Group’s sustainable development strategy and prepare the company to fulfill the obligation to prepare a non-financial report, in accordance with EU regulations (CSRD). It consists of experts and specialists in areas covering the ESG triad.
Hasco-Lek has joined the Responsible Business Forum partnership program
The Responsible Business Forum is an expert organization that is the initiator and partner of key ESG projects in Poland. The Forum is made up of a group of experts and specialists in the field of ESG and sustainable development. It promotes “business that changes the world and connects people who change business”. The organization has been conducting activities for sustainable development for years. One of them is the annual report of good practices, in which 4 activities conducted by Hasco-Lek were distinguished. Among the good practices were the projects:
- Help? Naturally! – Social Marketing Program
Hasco-Lek is implementing a social marketing program called “I Help? Naturally!”. As part of the campaign, 3% of the income from the sale of NaturKaps series products is donated to the implementation of the statutory goals of the Hasco-Lek Foundation. - GO HASCO! Academy of Ideas is a project initiated by the Management Board of Hasco-Lek, aimed at effectively introducing new products to the market and managing innovative ideas.
- Building a Culture of Continuous Improvement at Hasco-Lek. The Continuous Improvement Department was established in the company, which focuses on building a culture of continuous improvement and LEAN transformation. The goal is to create a friendly work environment and effective business processes.
- Hasco-Lek initiated the establishment of the Industrial Pharmacy Workshop at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Medical University of Wrocław. In addition to gaining theoretical knowledge during classes, students can draw on the company’s practical experience in all areas related to pharmaceutical production.
Hasco-Lek has been a patron of charity events for years.
Once again, the company was the main sponsor of Bieg Firmowy – a charity relay race in which 5-person teams take part. Each competitor from the team must cover a distance of 5 km for a noble cause – helping the beneficiaries of the Everest Foundation. The event could be taken part in stationary, as well as online – through a dedicated application from anywhere in the world.
The Hasco-Lek running team also took part in the Trojak Trail in Lądek Zdrój. This is a 10-kilometer mountain run, from which the entire proceeds from the entry fee are donated to the children from the Medical and Care Facility in Piszkowice. For years, Hasco-Lek and the Hasco-Lek Foundation have been involved in providing assistance to the residents of the facility. This place is especially close to the hearts of the employees of the Hasco Group, who have been involved in the collections of their friends for years.
We care about natural resources!
Our flagship activity is care for natural resources. Iwe invest in renewable energy sources. One of the steps taken was the investment in installing photovoltaic panels. Currently, we have 4 photovoltaic farms on production buildings (one for each energy consumption point) and one farm in the PCF Procefar warehouse (a company belonging to the Hasco Group). Additionally, there are two micro-installations in the Novasome Research and Development Center Sp. z o.o. We use practically all the energy for our own needs, although all installations are of the “on-grid” type – they can also return excess energy produced to the power grid.
Since 2021, we have been cooperating with a company that collects gelatin waste from us for a company producing farm animal feed.
A significant event was joining RafCycleTM by UPM Raflatac, a label waste recycling program where label liner is recycled and put back into circulation. We are thinking about expanding this cooperation so that in the future 100% of our label liner is recycled.
We organize internal events in accordance with the principles of sustainable development
Our internal events, such as the Family Picnic, are organized with the principles of sustainable development in mind. This is one of the most important criteria for us in their planning and implementation. Among other things, we limit the amount of unnecessary decorations, thus reducing the amount of waste generated at the event. This year we started to calculate the carbon footprint of the Family Picnic, and finally we will support tree planting.
